Broad- vs. Full-Spectrum CBD

Broad- vs. Full-Spectrum CBD

Broad-Spectrum CBD (Isolate)

Broad spectrum or CBD isolate refers to pure cannabidiol without other cannabinoids, terpenes, THC or compounds from the cannabis plant. It is often extracted in a way that removes other elements of a cannabidiol, leaving only the CBD molecule. This type of CBD product is ideal for people who want to experience the potential benefits of CBD without any traces of THC or other cannabinoids. However, there are mixed opinions and the effect of CBD without any amount of THC.

Full-Spectrum CBD

Full-spectrum CBD delivers a wider range of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds found in the cannabis plant. This also includes THC, but usually a smaller amount, within the relevant legal limit according to the individual country (You can see more about the allowed amount in different European countries here). The idea behind full-spectrum CBD is to combine the various compounds that can create an "entourage effect", where the individual contents work synergistically together to improve the overall therapeutic effects.

Choosing Between Broads- and Full-Spectrum CBD

When choosing between CBD isolate (broad) and full-spectrum CBD, it often comes down to personal preference and desired results. Where you e.g. may consider the following:

  • Entourage Effect If you want the potential benefits of the entourage effect from more cannabidiols and terpenes, as well as want to experience a wider range of compounds, full-spectrum CBD will be most suitable.

  • Sensitivity to THC: Some individuals may be more sensitive to THC and prefer CBD isolate to ensure no negative effects. However, local legislation will ensure against this as much as possible and thus the THC level will usually be very limited and without any psychoactive effect.

  • Legal Considerations: Make sure the product you choose complies with your country's regulations regarding THC content. At Provitura, we only sell to countries that allow our products.
